Construction Time Again

Just a quick note....

I've mostly been dealing with 'Life' lately (no...I mean 'REAL Life', not the generative Monomodular patch I've been promising to release for over a year and haven't gotten around to....ironic)....mostly running live sound a lot.  Last week I experienced the ultimate in dichotomy:  first, I ran sound for Bassnectar (probably the loudest show I've ever done), and the following day I ran sound for the Bee Eaters:  four large diaphragm condenser mics, all several feet from the performers, mixed so that its only loud enough to sound like you are standing right next to the musicians anywhere in the room.  It might have been nicer if the Bee Eaters show had been BEFORE  Bassnectar.  And of course, I've been reassembling a 78 VW Bus after catching it on fire two months ago (it will be nice when I'm "mobile" again).

Monomodular has taken a back seat lately, but I'm still working.  Debugging is much more difficult now that I'm compartmentalizing things....I hit a snag last week and just finally figured it out.  I got the current version up and running last night, though, so progress is being made.  I have no idea how long the rest will take, as this is a very major rebuild of the whole framework.

In the meantime, if you want to try out the current beta version of the material, there's a link at the bottom of this post.  I had held off making this public as long as possible with the hopes of releasing a full package for all the supported controllers, but I simply haven't been able to finish everything as soon as I'd hoped.  I got a little too ambitious with this new version, but all in all, it will allow me to integrate more types of hardware controllers much more easily into version 1.0, as well as allowing expansion of the feature set of Monomodular considerably in the future.

If you have any issues/questions about the current beta package, please drop a comment here, or feel free to contact me directly.

Cheers :)

Please note that this beta version is only compatible with the Livid Ohm64....the other controllers haven't been reintegrated yet.

  1. Thanks a lot for making it public (: discovering it with a lot of pleasure, been using it for a couple of hours with my ohm, going trought advanced features without any problems. Stupidly, i'm still searching on how to move the red box on my grid, i found how to do it four by four and i get stuck at the bottom of the clip row, also would love to move it row by row but i'didn't find the way. could you give me a hint ?
Thank for the great work ! (:

  2. Not stupid, actually....there is not a way to move row/column at a time. I've implemented that in the new beta as a user configurable option, but I'm still working out a way to make it useful (so that you can see the grid while navigating). Expect it in the final version of the script.

You can navigate either by pressing shift and using the opposite side's lower buttons, or by pressing shift and selecting an area in the zoom grid.

Thanks for the kind words :)

  3. Thanks for your prompt answer (: While playing "live" a quick/easy way to navigate a set with more than a hundred scenes become a bit of an essential thing ;) Having a mode where the six buttons next to the label one become navigators and scene launch/stop buttons could be nice.
Eager to try your final release. Anyways, thanks again for your hard work.

    greets !

  5. Which tutorial video? There are a couple out there....

Plinko absolutely works with the Ohm64. Have you gotten any of the other Monomod plugins working?

  6. Hey that's funny I had the same question!
I followed your video on your youtube channnel.

I'm sure it's just a midi channel problem.

I'm using your MonOhmPad as a control surface in Live (unbelieveable work! More on that later)

When using the MonOhmPad I can get the Monomod b96 showing the red square by selecting the MonOhmPad at the bottom right in the plugin.

But the lights don't work on the ohm64 or show up in the plugin - but it's working in the help area.

So of course when I add Plinko or any other Monomod plugin I get no results.

I'm sure you get this alot, but I really mean it:
I want to donate to you but can't find a way to here on the site. The Control Surface Template for Live saved me so much work and it's almost exactly how I would lay out things if I was scripting it myself. I was modifying mike's script until I found your site here :-)

I'll send you a mail from my real email address.

Thanks again for an unbelievable job!

  7. Thanks so much for the kind words, Ken :) No donations, its a labor of love. All artistic pursuits are ultimately for the benefit of the self, and this is (roughly) an artistic pursuit for me. Spread it around, show people how it works, and praise my name occasionally ;) Most of all, tell me when things don't work right so I can fix them (I love feedback!)

Definitely strangeness, these things that both of you are experiencing. We'll get it sorted out. I should check and make sure that all the packaged files are functioning correctly and get back to you.
